ecoLODGICALproject: 2 x sleeping unit for ecotourism

Based on an academic exercise of Eline’s Master Degree, this project was commissioned by a Dutch-Tanzanian initiative that invests in rural and social empowerment of the Maasai in Tanzania, by exploring the financial potentials in this pristine but fragile landscape. Ecotourism was the exciting complement to a variety of activities that envisioned sustainability and conservation. Two prototypes of sleeping units were build during the initial fase. With a constant critical and transcultural approach it resulted a set of choices, compromises within a complex and contradicting world of natural balance and human perception. Material and techniques were selected according to origin and availability, maintenance and durability, impact/effects on health and safety of the human being and environment.
